The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business, headquartered in Rockledge, FL, provides global, world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.

Role Description:                        

The Fixed Wing (FW) Maintenance Pilot (UHC-8) for our Iraq site provides fixed wing operational support for the Department of State INL/A program in support of the US Embassy. Reporting to the Iraq Site Manager, the success Pilot will perform operational checks, routine maintenance, and conduct maintenance test flights to ensure the airworthiness of the fleet. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare or supervise preparation of flight plans, considering such factors as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, airport facilities and navigation aids.
• Supervise or accomplish the aircraft preflight inspection and preparation.
• MP crewmember performs operational checks, routine maintenance, and maintenance test flights to ensure the airworthiness of the fleet.
• Ensure proper loading, distribution, and security of cargo and passengers.
• Determine aircraft weight and balance is within prescribed limits.
• Retain final responsibility for the logging of aircraft flight time and the filing and closing of flight plans and preparation of flight and duty time records.
• Conduct the briefing of all passengers prior to each take-off or assign duty to direct reports but retains responsibility.
• Delegate functions to other direct reports but retains overall responsibility.
• OCONUS position that requires some travel to CONUS required.
• Performs other aviation duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman’s Certificate Airplane Multi-Engine Land/Instrument.
• FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
• Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
• Successful completion of FAA Type Rating in the selected type required before assignment.
• 1,500 total fixed wing flight hours including 500 hours of turbine multi-engine time.
• Minimum 250 hours multi-engine pilot-in-command time.
• MP applicants require 50 hours of FW maintenance pilot time or prior designation as a military Functional Check Pilot/ Maintenance Test Pilot time.
• Strong English speaking and written communication skill.
• Ability to pass physical screening.
• Passport with 18 months remaining.
• Complete fixed wing aircraft (DHC-8) qualification training and then travel to assigned OCONUS location.
• Ability to deploy to various OCONUS sites for varying durations, if required to meet WASS program mission requirements. 
• Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. secret security clearance

Preferred:

• FAA ATP
• FAA DHC-8 (any series)Type rating
• FAA CFI/CFII/MEI
• Prior military pilot and/or pilot support on the DoS INL/A program.
• Currency in the applicable aircraft DHC-8 (any series)
