Make an Impact Where Performance Meets InnovationPDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leading HVAC manufacturer to find an experienced and dependable Staff Run Technician to support advanced engineering laboratories. In this hands-on role, you’ll be at the heart of product testing and validation—running high-efficiency chiller operations that directly influence next-generation HVAC solutions used around the world.

What You’ll Do – Day to DayChiller Testing & High-Efficiency Operations
Execute performance testing on water-cooled and air-cooled commercial chillers
Set up and configure lab test environments, including loop configurations (single/double loop)
Independently operate, tune, and troubleshoot chillers to achieve optimal efficiency
Drive test cycles, analyze loop stability, and ensure accurate results
Technical Execution & Troubleshooting
Operate, inspect, and maintain chillers, boilers, valves, VFDs, power management systems, and lab equipment
Calibrate instruments measuring pressure, temperature, flow, and electrical parameters
Select, connect, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems
Work safely with 460V 3-phase equipment, refrigerants, and HVAC systems
Lab Safety, Reliability & Uptime
Champion lab safety, 5S practices, and corporate EHS policies
Support lab uptime through preventive maintenance and rapid issue reporting
Identify and report instrument or system failures before they impact schedules
Collaboration, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Collect and report test status, KPIs, and technical issues with transparency
Apply and teach measurement techniques and system troubleshooting
Write clear, accurate test reports
Coach team members and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve issues proactively
Required QualificationsTechnical/Business School Certificate, Skilled Trades Apprenticeship, or High School Diploma/GED
5+ years of experience in:
Proven ability to independently run chillers, tune loops, and report test results
Strong hands-on experience with hand and pneumatic tools, precision measurement instruments, and advanced shop math
EPA refrigerant handling certification (or ability to obtain)
Preferred QualificationsAssociate’s Degree (AS or AAS) in a related technical field
Technical expertise in HVAC design and components
Strong understanding of closed-loop control systems and loop stability
Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, schematics, and blueprints
Experience with medium-voltage operations, including arc flash and lockout/tagout procedures
Work EnvironmentHands-on lab role with frequent standing, climbing, and lifting (up to 50 lbs)
Work around moving mechanical equipment, refrigerants, compressed gases, and temperature variations
Occasional after-hours or weekend work to support critical testing or maintenance

Pay Details: $28.75 per hour
