Technical Support (Milling and Turning)

Job Description:

Setup & CNC Machining•Set up and operate CNC machines safely and efficiently (primarily Haas) per engineering drawings, work instructions, and customer/company requirements.•Perform job setup: install and align workholding (vise/fixture/soft jaws/chuck), load tools, set tool length/radius offsets, set work offsets and verify correct program/revision.•Support safe first-run execution using approved methods (dry-run, single block, reduced feeds) and ensure the process is stable before running production quantities.•Prepare raw stock (cut to size as required) and secure materials correctly for stable machining.Inspection & Quality•Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to confirm conformance to drawing requirements.•Record inspection results and complete traveler/route card documentation in English as required.•Identify and escalate trends such as dimensional drift, burr issues, surface finish issues, and repeatability concerns.•Follow documentation procedures for jig/fixture/program control and change managment.Deburring / Edge ConditionPerform deburr and edge-break per work instruction and drawing requirements, ensuring no sharp edges, loose chips, or FOD risk, and that critical features are not altered.Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement•Monitor machining performance (tool wear, chatter, finish, dimensional stability) and take corrective action within scope (offset adjustments, tool change, basic feeds/speeds adjustments) while following site rules.•Provide feedback to CNC programmers/supervisors regarding program performance, tooling needs, fixture improvements, and manufacturability concerns.•Machine Checks, Support Calibration Verification & Basic Maintenance (TPM)•Perform routine machine checks/calibration verifications per site procedure (e.g., warm-up routines, probe/toolsetter function checks where applicable, basic repeatability/condition checks).•Perform basic preventative maintenance (TPM): coolant level and concentration checks, chip management, cleaning, lubrication checks per checklist, and maintaining a safe/organized work area.•Report alarms, unusual vibration/noise, coolant issues, and suspected machine accuracy problems immediately.Design & Improvement of CNC Clamps/Fixtures •Design simple CNC fixtures/clamps (2D sketches / basic CAD if available), select standard components (clamps, pins, bushings, stops), and manage fabrication requests through the approved process.•Validate fixture designs through trial cuts and measurement, update designs based on results, and help standardize fixtures for repeat jobs.•Ensure fixture concepts support safe tool access, rigidity, repeatability, and efficient setup; coordinate with Tooling/Engineering for complex fixtures.General Expectations•Handle raw material and finished parts carefully to prevent damage (scratches, dents).

Job Requirements:

EducationTechnical Diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational machining certification/training is a plus.Experience: 4–5 years experience in CNC machining environment (operator-to-machinist progression acceptable).•Must-have: Hands-on experience with Haas CNC milling machines (setup and operation). Additional experience with Mill-Turn is preferable•Ability to read engineering drawings and follow work instructions; basic GD&T awareness is an advantage.•Strong understanding of machining fundamentals: workholding basics, tooling, offsets, feeds/speeds fundamentals.•Competent in measurement tools (calipers and micrometers; height gauge a plus).•Language (Required): Basic English reading and writing to understand drawings/work instructions and complete machining/inspection records.
