Mission:
Under general supervision, follows established safety and operating procedures to clean metal castings in accordance with quality standards. Ensures that documentation, tooling and parts are correctly matched to paperwork.
Principle Accountabilities:
1. Sandblaster Objective: Using air or mechanical blast methods and/or acid and caustic methods to remove foreign material from castings conforming to visual and dimensional specifications on technique cards.
Essential Job Functions:
• Follow established housekeeping and safety practices to maintain the quality of the work environment under general supervision.
• Perform visual and dimensional inspection of castings per part grade levels. May use such measuring devices as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
• Work is subject to final inspection and check.
• Adjusts equipment to obtain optimum running condition.
• Inspects own parts for surface distortion and imperfections such as flow lines, cracks, breaks, sinks, excess flash, non-fill and porous condition.
• Loads blast material of proper size and type in all machines.
• May load, tend and use caustic and/or acid dip, after proper training, for cleaning.
• Maintains equipment in a safe manner.• Possesses the ability to work well with others and maintain a positive attitude.
• Consistently notifies supervisor when workload is low.
• Display a willingness and interest to learn through on-the-job training.
• Know and understand all general plant and department safety rules and policies.
• Have the physical ability to perform function.
• Demonstrate the ability to recognize and communicate production problems to supervisor.
• Maintain above average production efficiency.
• Demonstrate proper procedures for signing off all department documents.
• Knows approximate cost of equipment and supplies.

• Have necessary eye to hand coordination to perform sandblast operations to meet surface finish requirements.
• Pass a practical test which consists of at least the following steps:
a. Read and interpret paperwork instructions.
b. Know and understand sandblast and chemical cleaning equipment.
c. Demonstrate completion of at least 15 different shop numbers to specifications.
d. Load blast material of proper size in all types of machines.
• Must have ability to basically run the department efficiently with minimum assistance.
• Must demonstrate the ability to complete all departmental paperwork in fine detail and explain the logic of all phases.
• Must have the ability to make cost analysis for decision making, exercising good judgment.
• Demonstrate ability to log on main computer system, extract information, log time, enter inventory amount and forward to next operation.
• Must have no violation of safety rules.
• Must be able to clean all types of castings using sandblast, shot blast or chemical methods.
a. Adjust nozzles and pressure properly.
b. Interpret surface comparator.
c. Turn dust collector on and off.
d. Maintain proper level, temperature, PH, temperature and cleanliness of chemical cleaning systems.
• Know and understand Safety procedures of sandblast equipment, operation of salt bath and acid cleaning.
• Accesses main computer system to maintain accurate records of work performed and accurately forward inventory.
• Meets all production and quality standards.

Qualifications:
• Experience and/or training are included in considerations.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, read, follow and interpret instructions on technique cards, code sheets as well as other verbal or written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to use simple to moderately complex measuring devices and fixtures.
• Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
