Responsible for supporting and assisting the HR team with all LR functions and initiatives. Provides LR services regarding the interpretation, administration, & application of collective agreements and other Employment/LR matters in a multi-unionized environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must be able to perform, but not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
- Assume a vital role towards achievement of our strategic improvement goals that will further enable Canadian North to improve employee satisfaction, enhance customer service and improve organizational effectiveness
- Build and maintain a positive working relationship with Union and Association leadership, with a focus on collaborative problem solving
- Monitor and manage relationships with the unionized work force in a progressive, proactive and non-adversarial manner
- Provide day-to-day support, guidance and advice to managers with respect to employee issues, including performance management, absence management, and progressive discipline towards resolution
- Provide subject matter expertise on the interpretation, administration and application of multiple collective agreements
- Investigate and provide assistance in the resolution of employee-related concerns as required
- Represent Human Resources at disciplinary hearings, grievance hearings and terminations
- Manage the formal grievance process to ensure the timely and effective resolution of all matters in dispute; participate in level 1 grievance hearings
- Assist with the collective bargaining process through research, analysis, record-keeping, coordination of bargaining meetings and the preparation of bargaining documents; participate in negotiations as necessary
- Work in collaboration with the HR team to ensure that the Company needs are met
- Other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Include, but not limited to, the following skills and qualifications:
- Experience in supporting a multi-union environment and the administration of collective agreements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in labour relations in a multi-union environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Proven track record of maintaining positive management/labour relations
- Previous collective bargaining preparation
- Broad working knowledge of federal legislation including the Canada Labour Code, Canadian Human Rights Act, WSIB and Health and Safety legislation
- Strong interpersonal, communication (written & verbal) and conflict resolution skills to deal effectively with multiple stakeholders
- Adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast paced, team-oriented environment while ensuring accuracy, confidentially and effective time management
- Strong client focus and excellent professional judgment
- Sound analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills
- Able to work independently under broad management direction while maintaining interdependence locally and with other departments
- Committed to continuous improvement and display a high level of initiative, creativity and enthusiasm
- Ability to speak Inuktut a definate asset
- Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet; experience with Ultipro preferred-
- Ability to obtain and retain an AirportRestricted Area Pass in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada
