The Role: Head of Strategy – Engineering & Maintenance
Join our Engineering & Maintenance team at British Airways as the Head of Strategy, where you will lead the development of strategic plans that shape the future of one of the most essential functions of our business. This pivotal role will see you driving holistic strategies, fostering cross-functional alignment, and enabling British Airways to achieve its goal of Building a Better BA.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the creation and communication of strategic plans for various Engineering & Maintenance areas, ensuring alignment with BA’s overarching objectives.
- Act as a trusted partner to Engineering Directors and other senior leaders, driving strategic change from ideation to execution.
- Provide executive coaching on advanced strategic approaches to members of the Engineering & Maintenance leadership team.
- Oversee the identification and mitigation of risks, acting as the executive sponsor of the Engineering Risk Operations Centre.
- Direct the Engineering leadership team in prioritising initiatives and allocating resources effectively to achieve strategic goals.
- Deliver regular updates on strategic initiatives to senior stakeholders, including the Central Transformation Teams, BA Management Committee, and International Airline Group Management Committee.
What You’ll Bring to British Airways:
- Extensive experience in strategy development and execution, with a proven ability to define problems, propose impactful solutions, and deliver results.
- Exceptional influencing and collaboration skills, with the ability to navigate opposing views and secure alignment at the senior leadership level.
- A balance of strategic vision, creativity, operational know-how, and project management expertise.
- Strong risk management acumen, with experience in holistic risk identification and mitigation.
Your Experience:
- Previous experience in consulting, aviation, or relevant industries is advantageous, but not essential.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience; an MBA is desirable.
- A proven track record of leading and delivering strategic transformation at scale.
