Job Summary:

The EHS Technician, working with the Site EHS Manager, will support Environmental, Safety and Industrial Hygiene Programs and ensure compliance with all applicable government laws and regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform environmental inspections of the site at required cadence. This includes RCRA, stormwater, wastewater, SPCC, air permits and any other applicable permit or agency.
  • Store, manage and dispose of hazardous, universal, and non-hazardous waste in accordance with large quantity generator status requirements. Including waste determinations, waste profiling and manifest development for waste shipments.
  • Manage onsite chemical storage and dispensing for product chemicals.
  • Support completion of environmental reports at required cadence. Including TRI, Tier II, Biennial Waste Report, pollution prevention, stormwater pollution prevention, and any other identified environmental report.
  • Provide training on environmental principles and requirements to site personnel.
  • Support the EHS team in maintenance of site permits and related programs including environmental and safety compliance programs.
  • Coordinate activities as they relate to safety, health and environment at the site in order to reduce occupational injuries, illnesses and environmental impact.
  • Support the development, management implementation and maintenance of comprehensive safety, health and environmental programs and training designed to prevent injury or occupational illness to employees and to protect the environment, using document control system.
  • Assist in the implementation of corrective actions and conduct audits of such corrective actions to ensure compliance with regulations and effective implementation of corrective action measures.
  • Conduct site inspections to identify hazards, potential risks and help drive improvements.
  • Identify and develop controls for department specific hazards through Job Safety Analyses
  • Participate in safety committee functions as role requires. Offer expertise in chemical and environmental practices.
  • Assist EHS team in duties to determine applicability of administrative and regulatory requirements for health and safety laws and implements applicable regulations and standards.
  • Support EHS team for data reporting involving corporate, group and site EHS goals and objectives.
  • Any other task assigned by your supervisor or management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of one to three years of experience in a manufacturing environment with the demonstrated capability to effectively communicate to broad audiences. Experience in workplace safety and support of the administration of a comprehensive safety and accident prevention program with some training in health, safety and environmental preferred.
  • Environmental experience: Demonstrated knowledge of Local, State and Federal Hazardous Waste Management regulations; ability to perform Hazardous Waste Handling, Storage, Disposal and Control Practices.
  • Knowledge: Proficient MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Skills/Abilities: Ability to lead hazardous waste program management and make recommendations for change in equipment and/or processes as necessary to correct or minimize safety and environmental concerns.
  • Education/Certification: Current RCRA, DOT, HAZWOP 24 Hr. certifications. Respirator Exam and Fit Test. First Aid, CPR, AED, BBP training.
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in environmental sciences, industrial engineering, safety engineering, or occupational health preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye protection, hand protection, skin protection, respiratory protection, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE.
  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold/hot temperatures, small spaces, dust or fumes
  • Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary
  • Standing: 50 *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task
  • Sitting: 50 *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task
  • Lifting (in pounds): up to 40 pound
  • Pushing (in pounds): up to 200 pounds push force
  • Mental/Visual: use of safety data sheets to evaluate hazards, hazard labeling
  • Workspace (line, cube, etc.): Various areas
  • Environmental protection: Must be able to pass a respirator exam and don a full-face respirator, SCBA

Salary range: $41.99 to 60.91. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications.
