How youll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities) As a Flight Safety Data Science Co-op, you will play a key role in supporting Delta’s Safety Management System (SMS), a core component of the company’s proactive approach to identifying, analyzing, and mitigating safety-of-flight risks. You will be supporting the continuous monitoring of safety-of-flight risks and the development and execution of Flight Operations Safety Risk Assessments that require Flight Safety data sources to be completed. This will involve conducting research, preparing and performing analyses using flight data, pilot reports, fatigue reports, damage or injury data and additional operational and safety data sources as needed. You will become familiar with the environment and experience of various frontline work groups, especially pilots, and you will closely collaborate with partners across Flight Safety, Corporate Safety, and Flight Operations to advance safety initiatives. Additional responsibilities extend across all Flight Safety programs including: accident and incident investigations, Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA), Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), Pilot Fatigue Risk Management, and Safety Promotion. You may also support and represent Delta Flight Safety at select internal and external safety meetings, helping communicate safety insights and strengthen organizational safety culture.
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications) Must be enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in a 4-year academic institution.At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale.Must be available to work on a full-time basis for 3 alternating semesters: Fall 2026, Summer 2027, and Spring 2028.This position requires student to work for 3 alternating semesters. Student cannot actively take any courses (inclusive of online or in-person) and work as a Co-op/Intern at the same time, which may delay graduation by 1-2 semesters.Must be able to work onsite in our Atlanta, GA office for the duration of the Co-op.Working as a Co-op/Intern does not guarantee a full-time opportunity at Delta Air Lines upon graduation.
