Job Description:

Aviation Search Group is partnered with Fibreworks Composite, the largest privately-owned composite manufacturer in the U.S., to find an NDT Responsible Level III who will be responsible for inspecting carbon composite, bonded structures, metallics, and other advanced structures using ultrasonic, liquid penetrant, or other state of art methods.

Position Overview: The NDT Responsible Level III is responsible for inspecting carbon composite, bonded structures, metallics, and other advanced structures using ultrasonic, liquid penetrant, or other state of art methods. This is an opportunity to participate in developing a complete system, including influencing structural design, fabrication methods, and operational support on a variety of projects.

As the NDT Responsible Level III, you will provide necessary leadership and guidance to the Nondestructive Inspection Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Oversight: Establish, maintain, approve, and continuously improved the NDT Written Practice and method-specific procedures, techniques, and work instructions (e.g. UT, RT, ET, PT) across all Fibreworks Composites manufacturing locations
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure adherence to applicable standards (e.g. NAS410/EN4179, AS9100/ISO9001), customer specifications, and regulatory mandates, as applicable
  • Personnel Certification: Manage the qualification and certification program for Level 1 and Level 2 technicians, including the administration of both general and practical examinations
  • Method Selection: Determine the most effective NDT methods for specific applications, such as:
    • Radiographic Testing (RT)
    • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
    • Eddy Current Testing (ET)
    • Magnetic Particle (MT) & Dye Penetrant (PT)
  • Audit & Quality Control: Act as the primary point of contact for external audits (FAA/EASA, etc.) and perform internal audits to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Problem Solving: Provide expert interpretation of complex indications and act as the final arbiter on "accept/reject" decisions for critical components.
  • Department Growth: Provide analysis and solutions for growth for equipment purchases (CAPEX) and employee onboarding.
Job Requirements:

What You Will Bring to the Team:

  • Certification: Current Level III certification in at least two NDT methods (e.g., UT, ET, RT, PT, MT)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Materials, Physics, or related field; equivalent experience considered
  • Experience: 7–10+ years in NDT with at least 3+ years at Level III or program-lead capacity in production or maintenance environments
  • Standards Knowledge: Demonstrated mastery of NAS 410/EN 4179 requirements, and AS9100/ISO 9001 quality systems
  • Experience with monolithic composite parts and bonded composite assemblies
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful Permanent Resident in compliance with ITAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Regulatory: Experience in aerospace/aviation compliance (e.g., FAA Production/Repair, EASA Part-145) or similarly regulated industries
  • Proven success implementing digital NDT tools (e.g., phased array UT, FMC/TFM, DR/CT, eddy array) and data management systems

Hours of Operation:

  • Normal business hours: 7:00AM – 4:00PM; Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends and holidays as scheduled by leadership.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Combination of indoor and outdoor activities with varying conditions
  • Requires walking, standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, bending, reaching, handling, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • May involve operating material handling equipment in a safe manner
  • Work may include exposure to variable noise levels, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc., requiring personal protective equipment
  • Some positions may require working with small parts/components, necessitating excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
