Job Description

This role focuses on assembling mechanical components and products by following detailed work orders, blueprints, and assembly instructions. You will use a variety of hand and power tools to measure, align, and assemble prefabricated parts while maintaining high quality standards and meeting production goals. Success in this position requires strong mechanical aptitude, precise attention to detail, and confidence working from prints rather than guesswork.

Responsibilities

  • Review work orders, blueprints, drawings, and assembly instructions to understand job requirements and specifications.
  • Gather parts, hardware, and materials according to the bill of materials before starting each assembly.
  • Measure and align prefabricated components using a tape measure and other tools to ensure proper fit and tolerances.
  • Assemble mechanical components and subassemblies using hand and power tools, fasteners, rivets, and related hardware.
  • Tack and secure components so that assemblies remain square, aligned, and structurally sound.
  • Use a tape measure regularly to confirm dimensions and verify that assemblies meet specified tolerances.
  • Perform self-quality checks on completed assemblies to ensure they meet engineering and production standards.
  • Identify defects, misaligned parts, or other issues and accurately document any problems found during assembly.
  • Rework or repair assemblies when engineering updates, design changes, or corrections are required.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe workstation that is ready for ongoing production.
  • Work at a consistent and steady pace to meet daily and weekly production goals while maintaining quality.
  • Follow all safety procedures when using hand and power tools and working on the production floor.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of manufacturing assembly experience.
  • Proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a production or assembly environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work schematics, and assembly drawings.
  • Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical assemblies and hardware.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to performing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work from prints rather than guesswork.
  • Capability to work at a steady pace to meet production goals while maintaining quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in general production or assembly line environments.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly of prefabricated components.
  • Familiarity with using various fasteners, rivets, and hardware in mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to perform basic self-inspection and quality checks on completed work.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and efficient workstation.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
