The State and Local Government & External Affairs Manager seeks positive outcomes for the Company and its business interests through advocacy before legislative and regulatory bodies at multiple State and Local levels. This role will develop and implement strategies to advance Company positions with legislators and regulators, government agencies and institutions, with a particular focus on State and Local Government.

•Track and evaluate pending legislation and regulations that may impact the Company and the aviation industry; proactively work to advance the interests of the Company
•Develop and execute under the direction of the Director related to strategies on legislative, policy, regulatory and political issues affecting the Company
•Respond to legislative and regulatory inquiries/needs at the State and Local levels, and create opportunities to improve legislators and regulators understanding of the Company and its business
•Represent the Company at political and industry events
•Understand and articulates the Company position on key legislative and regulatory issues in a compelling way
•Establish constructive and lasting relationships with elected and appointed officials on a State and Local level and invests considerable time and energy in prioritized networking activity
•Prepare communications to key stakeholders (employees, public officials, etc.) to communicate pertinent issues (legislative, Company investment projects, business change, etc.)
•Apprise Director of relative to pertinent legislative and regulatory issues and other external factors that could affect the business to ensure Senior Leadership is aware
•Will need to assist with the NetJets Inc. PAC

•Experience in either a government affairs role or as a staff member of a state, local, or federal legislative or regulatory body
•Thorough understanding of the legislative and regulatory processes and landscape
•Strong working relationships with legislative and regulatory officials and staff
•Ability to develop and maintain relationships with public officials and their staffs
•Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management as well as external individuals and groups
•Ability to analyze and interpret legislation and policy documents and experience in writing legislation
•Skills related to legislative advocacy, negotiation and persuasion
•Ability to develop and implement strategic plans as well as responding to short-term objectives
•Ability to balance multiple concurrent policies at the same time
•Attention to detail and strong follow-through
•Ability to travel 25 - 75
