Role Overview:

This role is responsible for execution and earned value management (scope, budget, and schedule) of Avionics North America Sustaining Support projects with a strong emphasis on technical, financial, and budgetary oversight. This includes all support activities to the manufacturing and aftermarket production facilities, as well as reporting to senior and executive leadership for project approvals and during weekly/monthly operating reviews. This role is responsible for developing the annual budget, authorizing and negotiating funding for individual tasks, and managing the project within the allocated budget.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Leads development and approval of annual Sustaining budget with Supply Chain, Programs, Engineering, and Quality.
  • Establishes project cost accounts including forecasting resource allocation for each skillset required to execute the projects.
  • Executes projects and earned value management for Sustaining projects (scope, budget, and schedule ownership).
  • Works with Supply Chain, Program Management, and Engineering leadership to prioritize and ensure efficient application of engineering resources to successfully execute projects.
  • Identifies financial risks and implements mitigation strategies to safeguard project financial health.
  • Understands the source or reason for project tasks and negotiates with Finance and other Project Managers to determine the most appropriate funding solutions.
  • Utilizes FLIGHT DECK (Lean) tools for project daily management and standard work.
  • Reports to business leaders on key project status.
  • Interfaces cross-functionally with internal stakeholders including Finance, Engineering, Sourcing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management.
  • Uses technical experience and analytical thinking to resolve project challenges.
  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Travel approximately 25

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 9 years of experience in Program/Project Management)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Program/Project Management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in Program/Project Management within the Aviation/Aerospace industry
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Ability to document, plan, and execute programs within budget and schedule
  • Skilled in forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting, ensuring projects are delivered within scope, on time, and within budget
  • Capable of balancing multiple funding streams and securing necessary resources to achieve project objectives efficiently
  • Experience in project management principles and tools
  • Experienced in collaborating with cross-functional teams to align project goals with financial targets and organizational objectives
  • Ability to identify, assess and mitigate project risks
