Position Summary
Responsible for planning, procuring, storing, and moving materials to support production and customer deliveries while optimizing cost, inventory, and service levels.
Lead a team of planners, buyers, production schedulers to manage material & production planning and scheduling across all value streams, balancing product complexity, component lead times, line capacity and spanet demand. Work closely with customer service operations—interpreting customer requirements, monitoring delivery performance, resolving complaints etc.
Responsibilities
Inventory, SIOP, PFEP, Kanban, Material, Warehouse
Materials & Inventory Management
Own materials planning (MRP/requirements planning) and track material requirements to ensure availability for running production lines while minimizing stockouts and excess inventory.
Coordinate with Procurement, suppliers and 3PL partners to expedite critical parts and manage inbound logistics.
Maintain inventory rotation and working-capital optimization.
Planning & Scheduling
Lead a team of value-stream planners to develop and manage an integrated master schedule across all value streams, projects and operations, accounting for dependencies, constraints, line capacity, component lead times and resource availability.
Prepare production and customer plans aligned to demand, capacity and supplier delivery schedules; maintain short‑term shop schedules and master production plan and adjust as required to meet commitments.
Identify and assess schedule risks, issues and conflicts; develop and implement mitigation and contingency plans.
SIOP
Own and run the monthly SIOP cadence, aligning Sales forecast, supply/capacity plans, and inventory targets across value streams
Identify gaps/constraints vs plan, drive actions to closure, and escalate decisions through the executive SIOP forum.
Track and improve key KPIs such as forecast accuracy, OTP, OTR, late backlog, and inventory health etc.
Process, Systems & Continuous Improvement
Implement, optimize and standardize planning processes, tools and methodologies (ERP/JD),
ensuring data accuracy, standard work and automation where applicable. Implement kanban and other material flow techniques.
Drive continuous improvement, Lean/Kaizen initiatives to enhance planning efficiency, reduce lead times and lower working capital and efficient line scheduling.
Warehouse
Implement, optimize and standardize warehouse functioning.
This includes space optimisations, Inventory accuracy, material picking efficiency, packing and transportation cost optimisation
ensuring data accuracy, standard work and automation where applicable. Implement kanban and other material flow techniques.
People Leadership & Development
Recruit, train, mentor and performance‑manage planning staff
Build team capability by sharing best practices for schedule management and adherence.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Materials Planning & Buy Initiation: Own MRP execution and initiate purchase requirements; set reorder points and safety stocks; coordinate purchasing and expediting with Procurement and suppliers to ensure on-time inbound material flows.
Order Fulfilment & On‑Time Delivery (OTP/OTR): Validate orders, confirm lead times, prioritize schedule to meet urgent orders, coordinate logistics, and proactively communicate delivery status and risks to stakeholders.
Inventory & Working Capital Management (DSI, Aged Inventory): Monitor inventory KPIs (DSI, turns, aged stock), run root-cause analysis for excess/aged inventory, implement reduction plans, and coordinate returns/obsolescence actions with stakeholders.
S&OP Leadership & Demand Alignment: Lead the S&OP cadence with Sales, CRM, planners and Finance; consolidate customer forecasts, validate demand signals, run scenario planning, and publish the agreed MPS (master production schedule) and demand plan.
Forecast Accuracy & Sales Planning: Collaborate with Sales/CRM to prepare and refine sales forecasts; apply statistical and collaborative forecasting methods; track forecast vs. actual and drive corrective actions to improve accuracy.
Integrated Master Scheduling & Production Planning: Develop, publish, and update MPS and shop schedules; reconcile demand, capacity, component lead times and constraints; perform daily/weekly schedule adherence reviews and scenario adjustments.
Capacity Utilization & Resource Optimization: Analyze capacity across lines and shifts; recommend load balancing, overtime, and changeover efficiency improvements; plan resource allocation to maximize throughput.
MIS, Reporting & Performance Analytics: Produce daily/weekly/monthly dashboards, analyze variances, identify root causes, and drive corrective action plans with accountable owners.
Risk Management & Contingency Planning: Identify risks (supplier, capacity, material), maintain contingency plans (alternate suppliers, substitutions, buffer strategies), and trigger escalation procedures as required.
Supplier & Logistics Coordination: Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders and 3PLs on lead times, route optimization and rate agreements; implement consolidation strategies and measure vendor performance.
