Role Description
Under minimal supervision, the Avionics Technician Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading the day-to-day activities of the avionics team in support of VIP aircraft completion projects. The role provides technical direction, supports troubleshooting and installation activities, and ensures all work is performed in accordance with engineering data, maintenance manuals, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Job Functions
•Plan, schedule, and assign daily work activities to avionics technicians to ensure efficient resource utilization and alignment with production schedules.
•Provide technical guidance, on-the-job training (OJT), and instruction related to installation, testing, and troubleshooting of avionics systems and components.
•Coordinate and support technicians in performing operational testing, system integration, and troubleshooting of avionics equipment.
•Perform complex avionics installations, modifications, and functional testing on aircraft systems as required.
•Ensure all work performed by the team complies with engineering specifications, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and applicable regulatory requirements.
•Troubleshoot, repair, or replace defective avionics components, wiring, and systems to ensure proper functionality and conformity.
•Lead by example by demonstrating proper installation techniques, workmanship standards, and adherence to quality expectations.
•Conduct and/or oversee functional and operational tests to verify system performance and reliability.
•Ensure team compliance with engineering changes, revisions, and modification requirements.
•Monitor and drive first-time quality, minimizing rework and improving overall efficiency.
•Promote and enforce a safe working environment, ensuring adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
•Communicate effectively with supervisors, project leadership, and other departments regarding progress, issues, and potential risks to schedule or delivery.
•Mentor and support junior technicians to develop technical skills and improve overall team capability.
•Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
•High School Diploma or GED required. Avionics certification or technical training preferred.
•Minimum 8+ years of progressive avionics experience within business aviation, aircraft completions, or military aviation environments.
•Demonstrated leadership experience in a lead or senior technician capacity.
•Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
•Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

•Working knowledge of continuous improvement practices, including reducing rework, downtime, and inefficiencies.
•Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-demand production environment.

This position is based in an aircraft hangar environment and may involve:
