ABOUT US
Since 1978 Air Inuit has been providing scheduled, charter, cargo, and emergency air transportation services in Nunavik and beyond, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Collectively owned by the Inuit of Nunavik, through the Makivik Corporation, the airline operates a fleet of over 35 aircraft ranging from a Twin Otter 300 Series to a Boeing 737 200C, 300 and 800 and employs over 1000 employees in one of the most challenging flight environments.

ROLE OVERVIEW
As a Base Manager at Air Inuit, you will be the driving force behind the seamless operation of our station. Your leadership will ensure that all activities, from counter services to ramp operations, run smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, both internally and externally, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and coordinate all station activities, ensuring a high level of service and operational efficiency. for both internal and external clients.
- Recruit, mentor, supervise and develop a comprehensive training plan to keep employee knowledge and skills up-to-date.
- Design and manage work schedules with precision.
- Serve as a go-to resource for staff.
- Regularly evaluate employee performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Actively participate in Air Inuit’s integrated safety management system.
- Contribute to the meticulous preparation and management of the station’s operational and budgetary plans.
- Engage in management committees to drive strategic initiatives.
- Ensure the upkeep of Air Inuit’s equipment, vehicles, and buildings.
- Foster excellent communication with customers, employees, and other departments.
- Handle and resolve customer complaints efficiently.
- Oversee contracts with external service providers and ensure their efficient management (i.e. snow removal, housekeeping, specialized companies, etc.).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance daily.
- Support all departments during unscheduled stops (accommodation, transport, food, etc.).
- Apply and enforce company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Policy Manual.
- Actively engage in occupational health and safety initiatives.
- Perform any other related tasks according to the departments operational needs and objectives.
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU AN IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Possess a college diploma in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
- Bring 5 years of aviation experience in a similar role.
- Excel in human resources management, including team leadership and conflict resolution.
- Showcase top-notch customer service skills.
- Exhibit professional attitude and behavior (teamwork, autonomy, dynamism, interpersonal skills, versatility, initiative, organizational skills).
- Communicate effectively in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, French, English.
- Have in-depth knowledge of northern operations.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and decision-making abilities, with high stress tolerance.
- Be willing to travel for meetings and support other Air Inuit network stations.
- Demonstrated experience in consistently upholding high ethical and health and safety standards in previous positions.
COMPENSATION
- The salary is determined according to our remuneration policy.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Modified work schedule: Choose between working 3 weeks followed by 2 weeks off, or the standard Monday to Friday.
- Service vehicle.
- If the position is not filled locally, air transportation from Montreal or Quebec City as well as room and board will be included.
