Vice President, Maintenance and 135 DOM

The Vice President of Maintenance is appointed by and reports to Ventura Air Service’s Chief Operating Officer. This person is responsible for all aspects related to the safety, airworthiness and regulatory compliance of all aircraft operated by the Ventura Air Services Part 135 Charter Operation and the overall day-to-day operation of the maintenance department. This individual must meet the qualifications of and will hold the DOT 119.71 position of Part 135 Director of Maintenance for the air carrier.  The Vice President of Maintenance will work within the Ventura flight operation to maintain a culture of safety with efficient procedures that support desired fleet availability metrics and financial goals of the company.

Responsibilities for the Vice President of Maintenance and 135 DOM are as follows:

• Creating and maintaining a culture based on safety and compliance
• Build and manage a high-performance team that will execute on the strategic goals of the Company and deliver the results necessary to support those goals
• Lead, Manage, and drive accountability for Maintenance Control, Maintenance Planning, and Quality Assurance
• Responsible for planning and managing budgets including P&L, hourly and cycle driven maintenance costs, asset management, cost control measures and control over related maintenance expenses to include vendor contracts, warranties, and payments
• Complying with all applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and manufacturer’s specifications
• Developing and establishing policies and procedures along with directing and applying appropriate resources to the execution of same in support of the overall company strategy and objectives
• Directing, planning and laying out the details of inspection standards, methods and procedures used on all aircraft authorized for use by the Company
• As a DOT 119.71 post holder, will have the authority to suspend operation of the aircraft in concert with the Director of Operation and Chief Pilot as necessary to ensure safety and compliance
• Develop and manage third party relationships with vendors, industry groups, regulators, etc. to support and benefit Ventura’s business interests
• Directing short term and long-range planning for the Maintenance Group to ensure that vendors, contracting agents, suppliers and other resources are established and are capable of meeting demand while performing at a high level
• Participates in and supports the Emergency Response Plan, including a post holder position on the Initial Response Team
• Demonstrating successful execution of business strategies for company products and services impacted by the Maintenance Group
• Directing and participating in growth activities to support overall business objectives and plans to include responsible for oversight of all conformity inspections of aircraft that will be added to the Company’s certificate
• Complies with and supports other internal company policies
• Perform other tasks as may be assigned from time to time

• Previous experience as an assistant DOM, maintenance leader, or having held a DOT 119.71 position.
• Must meet 119 DOM requirements:
  • Hold a current A&P certification.
  • Have 3 years experience within the past 6 years maintaining aircraft as a certified mechanic, including, at the time of appointment as Director of Maintenance, experience in maintaining the same category and class of aircrafts as the certificate holder uses; or
  • Have 3 years of experience within the past 6 years repairing aircraft in a certificated airframe repair station, including 1 year in the capacity of approving aircraft return to services.
