Job Description SummaryNDT Level II will perform and interpret NDT inspections on composite components and engine parts. Level II candidate will have the skills and knowledge to perform Liquid Penetrant Inspection, minimum Level 1 Digital Radiography Inspection, and minimum Level 2 Ultrasonic Inspection using handheld techniques and automated inspection systems, to include Phased Array Robotic Systems, demonstrate proficiency in interpreting ultrasonic inspection data, and handle and move parts/components as required to perform NDT inspections.In order to perform the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for the majority of the shift and work in a fast-paced production environment.Job Description
Requirements:
- Documented successful completion of an approved 40 Hour Level I and II Ultrasonic Inspection NDT Course (80 hours combined total).
- Documented successful completion of an approved 40 Hour (minimum) Phased Array class.
- Documented successful completion of an approved 40 Hour Radiation Safety and (Non-Film) Radiography Testing Level I (80 hours combined total).
- Documented successful completion of an approved 16 Hour Level I and II Liquid Penetrant Inspection NDT Course (32 hours combined total).
- Pass and Maintain Current Eye Exam per GE Aviation T-049 as necessary for NDT Ultrasonic method. (Corrected to Jaeger 1 at 12 inches in one eye and pass a color blind test).
- Must have basic computer skills and be able to use computers, on-line applications and the MSOffice Suite of tools.
- Must be able to read and interpret written instructions, follow written and verbal instructions, and communicate effectively.
- Must be able to work any shift.
- Previously certified to UT Level II NAS-410.
- Must be able to read, interpret and inspect to engineering drawings, process specifications and procedures that govern the fabrication process.
- Efficient in record keeping and preparation of reports; capable of reviewing other peoples work and determining accuracy and conformity to standards.
- Must have adequate documented training to substantiate qualifications.
- Good standing in most recent Performance Management review, including current progressive discipline.
- Must be able and willing to work any shift
- On-going Performance Management reviews in good standing required for continued assignment in role, including progressive disciplines.
Core Responsibilities:
- Operator required standing 80 of the time, stooping, bending, stretching, and awkward positioning is also necessary.
- Inspect, evaluate and document process results with the aid of a qualified trainer.
- Maintain chemicals utilized for tests at proper levels as required.
- Maintain chemicals utilized for tests within the expiration period as required.
- Clean parts before/after inspection as required by process.
- Must be able to document non-conformances as required
- Technicians will comply with all local Batesville Composite Operation Plant EHS practices.
Desired:
- Previous automated UT inspection experience using Matec, GEIT, and Genesis equipment.
- KUKA Robotics programing experience.
- Ability to certify in other methods (PT, RT, and ET)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong presentation & facilitation skills
- Previous MS Office Suite experience (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Previous experience with web-based applications.
- Prior manufacturing quality inspection experience.
- Have experience with training, personnel testing and auditing NDT systems.
- Work experience that includes establishing techniques, writing NDT operation manuals and general quality background in a production environment with hands on work in aerospace manufacturing operations.
Level 2:
In the method in which certified, Level 2 individuals shall:
- Have the skills and knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, process parts, conduct tests, and to interpret, evaluate, and document results in accordance with approved procedures.
- Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method in which he/she is certified.
- Have the skills and knowledge to conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable work instructions.
- Be capable of providing the necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees and Level 1 personnel.
- Be familiar with the codes, specifications and standards that control the method as utilized by GE Aviation.
- Be capable of developing work instructions from approved procedures. Such work instructions shall be approved by the Responsible Level 3 or the Site Responsible Level 3.
- Have a basic knowledge of relevant product manufacturing and inspection technology.
