Responsibilities:
- Perform structural repairs and modifications on strike fighters, commercial aircraft, and flight control components.
- Identify and install fasteners, including rivets, screws, hi-locks, and bolts.
- Read and interpret blueprints, process data sheets, and maintenance instruction manuals.
- Utilize tools such as micrometers, calipers, grip gauges, and bore gauges to fabricate, trim, and assemble metallic and composite components.
- Execute repairs using Assembly Jigs and Repair Equipment to meet blueprint requirements.
- Maintain accurate aircraft log books, maintenance documentation, and work packages.
- Report discrepancies and technical issues to program leads and managers.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and wear required protective equipment.
- Perform daily tool inventories and maintain clean work areas.
- Follow training requirements and maintain necessary certifications.
- Communicate effectively using computer systems, including Microsoft Office.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and on-time aircraft delivery.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
- Experience:
- 6+ years of Aircraft Mechanic (Experience in either commercial or6+ defense or relevant trade apprenticeship would be considered)
- 6+ years experience in reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics and specifications
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of fastener sizes and appropriate cutting tools for installation/removal.
- Experience with safety wiring, cotter pin installation, and application of aircraft finishes, primers, and sealants.
- Proficiency in precision drilling (within .001) and measuring (within .0005) in metallic and composite structures.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and comply with team lifting standards.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- FAA certification in Airframe and/or Power Plant.
- Familiarity with aircraft maintenance processes, including FOD control and health and safety practices.
