Position OverviewWe are seeking a Laboratory Aircraft Test Technician to join our Military Aircraft Group. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting environmental and functional tests for new product evaluation, development, and qualification. You will report to our Site Engineering Lab Manager at our facility in the Los Angeles area.
Important Requirement: This position requires an active DoD Secret Clearance.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain the highest safety standards within the lab environment, managing hazards such as extreme temperatures, elevated pressures, rotating equipment, loud noises, and use of oils, solvents, and LN2
- Review test specifications and set up units under test (UUT) and associated test equipment according to written procedures
- Inspect test setups to verify compliance with applicable procedures
- Perform tests per specifications while monitoring critical parameters for compliance
- Complete data sheets, generate data plots, and maintain detailed test logs
- Maintain a well-organized test environment and prepare data, plots, and test logs for review
- Apply sound technical approaches and good judgment when investigating test anomalies
- Participate in test planning efforts and test readiness reviews
- Review and provide technical feedback on draft test procedures for future tests
- Communicate clearly and collaboratively across all levels and functions in the organization
- Travel to outside test locations to set up, inspect, and operate various qualification tests
Required Qualifications- Current and Active DoD Secret Clearance (or higher)
- High school diploma or GED preferred, or demonstrated ability to understand and apply work instructions and training
- 5+ years of experience as a test technician in mechanical, hydraulic, or electromechanical fields
- Experience in the proper use of hand tools and test instruments commonly found in a test lab
- Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications- Experience testing to RTCA DO-160 or MIL-STD-810
- Experience with test data acquisition (DAQ) systems and proper interfacing of various sensors such as thermocouples, encoders, current shunts, LVDTs, accelerometers, etc.
- Experience using laboratory tools such as temperature chambers, DMMs, milliohm meters, dielectric testers, torque tools, thermocouples, etc.
