Purpose and Scope:
Provide management and organizational level maintenance of all airfield aerospace ground equipment (AGE). This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).
Essential Responsibilities:
- Support equipment, fire extinguishers, chocks, boarding ramps, ground wires, powered and non-powered AGE and mobile staircase as required for aircraft arrival and departure.
- Performs service on equipment.
- Makes adjustment and coordinates with other shops for repairs.
- Operates equipment and checks for serviceability and submits required reports.
- Responsible for loading and unloading of passenger baggage, cleaning vehicles, aircraft interiors and ground support equipment as required.
- Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, loading aircraft cargo, operating aircraft loading equipment, cleaning the facility, snow removal and other duties as directed.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Five (5) years related experience working with U.S. Army combat and tactical equipment preferred.
- Relevant experience gained in commercial supply position is acceptable.
- High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.
- Ability to read and write English is required.
- Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
- Possess a valid issued driver’s license, passport from their country and could obtain a work visa.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
- Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
- Prefer candidate who has experience working on a US Government contract.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
- Work is performed in a shop environment in which mechanic equipment is operated, is loud and noisy, and some pieces of equipment have exposed moving components, regular handling, grasping, kneeling and carrying, and constant use of vision and mental alertness is required.
- Frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell.
- Frequently lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 50 pounds.
- Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
- Ability to travel internationally.
