We are seeking a highly motivated Machinist to join our team at Kaman Precision Products. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in our Machine Shop, directly contributing to our company Core Values (REACH). Job Summary:
Work under the direction of the group leader or supervisor and with little supervision, specify exact tolerances and finish specifications to perform diversified machining operations.
Responsibilities:
- Use blueprint, schematics, written and verbal directions, shop policies, and quality standards, to obtain required contours, dimensions, and finish specifications.
- Calibrate and modify operational sequences, to adjust speed of machining and frequency of cuts.
- Set up computer programming to perform machining sequences.
- Operate, edit, and adjust a variety of CNC and manual machines. Edit and check programming of machines.
- Determine operational or tooling sequence. Select feeds, speeds, and tooling. Hold close and exacting tolerances.
- Perform general shop work such as deburring, machine repair and maintenance duties.
- Inspect own work using functional gages and inspection equipment to maintain maximum quality.
- Inspect production work as often as necessary to maintain maximum quality standards and to prevent scrap work and minimal rework.
- Assist in training new employees.
- Report defective material and other unusual condition or circumstance to supervisor.
- Maintains workflow while balancing changing needs of the business. Communicates information to appropriate departments and individuals. Provides updates to management.
- Implements Lean methodologies when developing project plans/layouts to achieve company goals in cost, throughput, productivity, quality, and delivery.
- Ensures that work environment is clean, safe and that safety, health and environmental procedures and regulations are followed.
- Provides a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contributes to positive teamwork environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Accomplishes related results as needed.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Use of elementary geometry, algebra, and trigonometric principles together with the use of drawings, specifications, charts, and tables. Ability to use various types of precisions measuring tools and instruments. Familiarity with shop practices, inspection, and safety.
Experience:
- Over 1 years up to and including 3 years to qualify.
