About This Role

This is an opportunity to work as a Systems Engineer in our Land Systems organizations on innovative products in our ground robotics domain.  Our teams are engaged in multiple cutting-edge development programs for defense applications. The strong candidate will possess a broad knowledge base in multiple engineering disciplines and be able to execute in both R&D and production environments. Required experience includes hardware and/or software integration, managing requirements derivation and allocation, overseeing technical execution of engineering projects, and successfully working within a collaborative team environment.  A desire to take ownership of design efforts to integrate new technology into our vehicles is essential.

Responsibilities:

• Engineering Design and Development:
  
  
  
  • Support full-lifecycle engineering design and development activities on established and disruptive new products.
  
  
  • Work across engineering disciplines to develop conceptual designs that solve complex problems.
  
  
  • Lead and/or perform requirements analysis and derivation to understand customer needs.
  
  
  • Develop architecture models utilizing SysML to support requirements development and derivation.
  
  
  • Use requirements management and test tools to decompose program requirements.
  
  
  
  

• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE):




• Develop and maintain system models using MBSE methodologies and tools.


• Utilize SysML for creating and managing system architecture models.


• Integrate MBSE practices into the overall systems engineering process to improve design, analysis, and verification activities.


• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure MBSE models accurately represent system requirements and design.

• Systems Integration and Testing:




• Perform hands-on integration of components and subsystems into Ground Vehicles.


• Develop integration test plans and procedures to verify product integration.


• Perform analysis of data extracted from testing.


• Define methods, processes, and evaluation criteria for verifying systems, subsystems, and work products against their requirements.

• Collaboration and Communication:




• Prepare and present systems engineering work products to internal review teams and external customers at program milestone reviews.


• Interact daily with technical leads, program managers, planners, technicians, and other engineers.


• Collaborate with others within the workgroup, with other departments, and with customers.

• Project Management and Technical Direction:




• Lead/participate in an Integrated Product Team to design new capabilities based on evaluation of all necessary development and operational considerations.


• Provide technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of specific components of complex hardware/software systems.


• Manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems that are compatible with the defined system architecture(s).


• Lead the development of system requirements, functional requirements, and allocation of the same to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.


• Generate Statements of Work and manage outside contractor performance.


• Mentor others within the work group, department, and the organization.


• Generate solid Basis of Estimates and manage Earned Value for design/development cost accounts as Cost Account Manager.


• Provide technical direction to engineering staff and technicians of all disciplines as required.


• Perform review of engineering work products to ensure technically accurate and quality work products.


• Drive tasks to completion independently.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience:




• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering) required; Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering preferred.


• Minimum six years of experience in a systems engineering or design engineering role required.


• Experience with hardware and/or software integration, managing requirements derivation and allocation, or architecture design.


• Experience with systems engineering, MBSE, and modeling software.


• Experience with requirements management and analysis.


• Experience with a broad array of engineering tools/languages including MATLAB Simulink, Cameo/No Magic Products, JIRA, and/or SysML.


• Experience documenting logical or physical designs using drawing tools (e.g., Visio, PowerPoint, Cameo/MagicDraw) to depict systems, subsystems, interfaces, components, and communications.


• Experience in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment is preferred.


• Experience in ground vehicle design & development preferred.


• Experience or certifications in Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) (i.e., OCSMP Certification) is a plus.

• Customer interfacing and ability to build relationships.


• Ability to work in teams and independently with minimal direction.


• A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

• Other Requirements:




• Ability to travel up to 25%.


• Active Secret Clearance preferred; Secret Clearance eligibility required.
