JOB SUMMARY:
This is a summer internship in our Legacy Business Unit department. The intern will be tasked with updating the current value stream mapping (VSM) / Waterfall schedules to include the latest production operations of the model 8X aircraft. The intern will need to determine the most efficient sequence of operations by collaborating with subject matter experts in production. The schedule will need to be easily understood by production installers as well as management.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
- Call meetings with production personnel and map out the current process as well as pull statistical data for past production installation performance
- Ability to present in PowerPoint their proposal to changes for the aircraft schedule
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to quickly learn and understand the steps to build aircraft in the interior installation phase
- Must understand the principals of lean and 6 sigma for optimization of manufacturing operations
- Ability to provide statistical analysis required for past production results on operations performed to include some time studies
- Must reside in the United States
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Engineering major preferred
