Systems Engineer performing Algorithm development and Analysis for the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Fire Control (GFC) product, you will be part of the team that develops new algorithms, improves old algorithms, and assesses the effectiveness and performance of them in the context of the GFC software.
The selected Systems Engineer will work in a collaborative environment to understand, implement, and assess new capabilities and algorithms. These are mathematics and physics based complex solutions that are critical to the performance of Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) mission.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new and enhance existing physics- and mathematics-based algorithms within the GFC software architecture
- Perform data analysis and performance assessments to evaluate algorithm effectiveness
- Prototype and validate complex solutions using MATLAB, Python, or similar analytical tools
- Integrate algorithm solutions into the broader GFC system
- Support new capability implementation within an Agile Scrum development environment
- Contribute to mission analysis supporting battle management, threat processing, and weapon-target assignment
- Support work within a secure, in-person / closed-area environment
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Active Secret Clearance required (with the ability to acquire and maintain a Top Secret clearance)
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field from an accredited institution and 8+ years of relevant experience (OR Master’s degree and 6+ years of experience OR PhD and 4+ years of experience (Not to exceed 12 years total experience)
- Technical Expertise:
- Algorithm development (mathematics and physics-based)
- Data analysis and performance modeling
- MATLAB and/or Python for algorithm prototyping
- Integration of algorithm solutions into operational systems
- Domain experience in one or more of the following:
- Ballistic Missile Defense (BMDS)
- Midcourse missile defense
- Battle management
- Threat processing / threat state processing
- Weapon-target assignment
- Target object map population
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Top Secret clearance
- Experience supporting the MDA GMD program
- Recent experience developing analytical tools in MATLAB and Python
- Experience with ADA programming language
- Advanced missile defense algorithm development experience
