Job Summary

As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for communicating and monitoring product and system requirements to suppliers, ensuring alignment with quality standards. You will lead and coordinate the qualification process, including First Article Inspection (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), to ensure suppliers deliver qualified products on time. You will regularly monitor supplier quality performance issues, conduct reviews, and initiate corrective actions, such as root cause analysis and problem-solving activities, to maintain continuous compliance with quality expectations. In this role you act as the primary liaison with suppliers and recommend improvements to quality processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide leadership and professional development guidance in partnership with the Value Stream and functional teams.

Job Responsibilities

•    Review Supplier First Article and approve as applicable 
•    Have frequent contact with supplier to monitor quality actions
•    Analyze and assess supplier’s quality performance capability and identify improvement areas
•    Handle supplier non-conformance including cause and correction action, in order to be up to date with the supplier performance
•    Handle escape including root cause investigation, containment and corrective actions, participate in 8D investigations
•    Participate in supplier work transfer evaluation and monitoring according to industry requirements (APQP/PPAP)
•    Support concurrent engineering between GKN and supplier (design for manufacturing)
•    Support in supplier feedback
•    Communicate with Release Agents and monitor performance
•    Work with Global SQE organization to develop best practices 
•    Perform other duties and task as assigned to support the overall objectives of the team and organization 

Job Requirements:
Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
•    More than 6 years’ experience from manufacturing engineering/production, preferably product qualification activities or inspection/control
•    Experience from supplier quality positions
•    Must be a US Citizen due to program security clearance requirements and/of SSA requirements


Preferred Qualifications:

•    Strong experience in aerospace quality requirements (AS9100, NADCAP, customer requirements etc.)                                                          
•    Skilled in root cause analysis, 8D and continuous improvement
•    Knowledgeable in AS13100-standard and associated reference manuals (RM13XXX)
•    Knowledgeable in PPAP and APQP
•    Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) and interaction between Purchasing and Engineering in Product Development                                                                                                      
•    Well organized and structured with strong skills to work both independently, and in a team       
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills
•    Knowledge of aerospace products, processes and technologies                                
•    Experience and skilled with Microsoft office, and ERP systems

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing and walking (at least 7hrs/day)
  • Ability to carry and lift weight up to 25lbs
  • Bending, squatting, reaching, pushing and pulling as required
  • Use of hands for light and strong grasping
