Job Summary
Responsible for the completion of one or more technical activities, of moderate complexity, on time and budget. Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems. May use computer-aided engineering or other design / analysis software in the performance of assignments.
Job Responsibilities
- Work with engineering teams to optimize optical performance of laser diodes and laser systems
- Review performance specifications and requirements, and, under direction, develop designs to best support them and to reduce manufacturing risks
- Develop performance models and document test procedures
- Perform design of experiments (DOEs) and analyze device testing data to improve quality
- Use of computer-aided engineering and design/analysis software in the performance of assignments.
- Specify and evaluate supplier components, systems and services.
- Suggest assembly, tooling, and product improvements.
- Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
- Participate in preparation of proposals
- Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
- Lead less-experienced engineers
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Strong physics background including electromagnetics and diode lasers
- Familiarity with laser diode manufacturing
- Knowledge of optical coating design and implementation
- Some background in mechanical design and vacuum systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of experience
- Fluency in technologies and application domain
- Ability to lead a technical group independently
