Boeing Brazil Engineering Center is looking for a Senior Engineer, reporting to the Flight Control Electronics Manager, working out of the São José Dos Campos, Brazil office.
Senior Flight Controls Electronics Engineer will join the Flight Control Electronics team in Brazil supporting various Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) programs during development, certification and sustaining phases including 787, 737MAX, 777X and future programs.
We are seeking accomplished, self-motivated engineers to design, analyze, test and certify flight control systems for large commercial aircraft, as well as to support the production and fleet operations. The flight controls team is currently engaged in the challenging and exciting work of bringing new derivative airplanes into service as well as getting prepared to create the more capable, more efficient and even safer airliners of the future.
Position Responsibilities:
Resolve system level requirements into component requirements with time and cost-efficient validation methods
Develop system and subsystem architecture alternatives to meet requirements and objectives
Participate in system, component and detail certification efforts, including: creation of required certification artifacts, such as, system safety analysis, system descriptions, inspection reports, system testing reports, etc.
Participate in flight controls equipment supplier qualification test requirements definitions and qualification test results review.
Technical coordination of flight controls equipment suppliers.
Develop Functional Decomposition analysis activities including system functional modeling and model coverage analysis.
Support global fleet operations including: review flight data, troubleshoot fleet problems and respond to customer inquiries on maintenance activities or safety investigations and, also, respond to regulator queries; participate in resolution efforts to resolve Service Related Problems (SRP); and analyze reported flight incidents to provide recommendations to the Safety Review Board (SRB) for Continued Operational Safety Program (COSP) determinations;
Generally, these activities require successful cross-functional coordination within and outside of Boeing including with: avionics, hydromechanical systems, crew-ops, airplane level safety, aerodynamics, supply chain management, systems software, suppliers, airline customers, and regulatory agencies
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Must have existing rights to work in Brazil
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited course of study in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering
Must be registered or eligible to register with the Engineering and Agronomy Regional Council (Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia - CREA)
Proficient in both verbal and written communications skills in the English Language
In depth experience with aeronautical systems development following ARP4754 standard
Experience with aeronautical equipment qualification following RTCA DO-160 standard
Experience with sub-systems/equipment supplier´s management and oversight
Experience working with cross functional teams
Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):
In depth experience with Flight Controls System and component architecture
Experience with Electrical Power and/or Motor Controller Systems
Experience with hardware design assurance activities per RTCA DO-254
Experience using requirement management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS
Experience with MBE (Model Based Engineering)
Experience with Matlab/Simulink tool for modeling and simulation
