The Southern California Global Design Center Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking Lead Project Engineers to become part of the Commercial Modifications Engineering IPT in Long Beach, California.
We are looking for experienced, engaged and motivated engineers to join a team of highly skilled Project Engineers supporting the Interiors product line, working on complex work statements in a fast-paced environment.
The Interiors Project Engineering team is responsible for interior modification project execution for all Boeing airplane models (including but not limited to 737, 777, and 787). These positions offer excellent career growth opportunities and a wide range of experience in commercial airplane retrofit.
The selected candidate will perform as Technical Leader to support project proposal review, develop integrated project plans, and work closely with Program Management and Functional Technical Teams for project execution and improvement.
Position Responsibilities:
Fully understands the project Statement of Work including certification path and requirements. Facilitates Technical Design Reviews (TDRs) to resolve technical issues
Provides the Engineering leadership to teams representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers
Performs as Project Technical Leader directing functional engineering in execution of interiors modification projects
Develops integrated project plans, project schedule, Statement of Work, and certification strategy to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements
Supports project proposal activities by reviewing Statement of Work, assessing potential impact to certification or to configuration control, and defining overall effort required to complete the project.
Leads project execution to complete the work statement, reports project technical performance metrics
Plans, identifies, and coordinates resources required over the life of the project or program
Defines plans for risk mitigation and opportunity
Compares actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned
Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans
Identifies and leads improvement initiatives to improve quality and reduce project flow
Works under minimal direction. Perform as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within the team for knowledge transfer and shares lessons learned
Some domestic and/or international travel required
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
5+ years’ experience in leading teams or projects
5+ years’ experience supporting cross functional teams
Aircraft Interior commodity experience (Interior commodities are items such as overhead stowage bins, lavatories, galleys, seats, PSU, sidewalls, air grilles, flight deck seats, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years experience as a Technical Lead or Senior Technical Lead on Aerospace Design Vehicles
Experience working with Suppliers
Has good understanding of 14 CFR Part 25 regulations
Ability to travel domestic & international up to 10 of the time depending on basic needs
Manufacturing experience on Aerospace Design Vehicles
Previous experience working in the aircraft modification environment

Summary Pay Range Lead: $101,000 - $180,000
