The Quality & Process Engineering (Q&PE) organization which includes P&W Advanced Metrology is responsible for working closely with our internal and external producers and providing process approvals, surveillance, and production support. P&W Quality and Process Engineering (Q&PE) organization is looking for a self-motivated individual to join our Advanced Metrology group to support improvement activities, application development, introduction of inspection technologies, and to become a subject matter expert to develop standard methods and support other company functional groups in areas related to measurement.
What You Will Do:
- Become a Structured Light, CMM and non-contact measurement system analysis subject matter expert.
- Perform scanning inspection and analysis for customer requests, both in-house and at external producers.
- Qualify and audit P&W module centers and external producers for compliance to the Structured Light Qualification (SLQ) and White Light Methods (WLM). Provide findings report and follow ups, as needed.
- Create standard work procedures for Structured Light, CMM, non-contact inspection and technology deployment.
- Collaborate with P&W Module Centers on inspection technology needs and develop methods to increase production inspection efficiency.
- Work with Operations Manufacturing and Quality and the Advanced Metrology team to execute the specification and purchase of automated measurement systems and their introduction into production.
- Investigate, evaluate and benchspan new technology in Advanced Metrology, including multi-sensor CMMs, non-contact inspection systems, advanced sensors and gaging methods.
- Participate as a resource for investigations to assist various customers in Engineering, Quality, and the supply base to resolve quality and product delivery problems.
- Train and mentor other team members in metrology, programming and automation.
- Review Gage Suitability packages for compliance to P&W requirements and best practices.
- Additional assignments working with Advanced Metrology and associated Metrology Fellows and Metrology Discipline Chiefs
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.
- Maintain compliance with all EH&S and ethics requirements.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelors Degree and 8 years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations management, program/project management or similar industrial environment; OR Masters Degree with 5 years of related experience
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Metrology, concentration preferred.
- Programming in Python or VBS preferred.
- Comfortable working with automated machinery and robotics.
- Expert knowledge of GD&T drawing interpretation, and implementation of measuring systems.
- CMM programming experience utilizing a mix of the CMM software packages: MODUS, CAMIO, CALYPSO, PC-DMIS, MCOSMOS, CMM Manager
- Experience with structured light scanners and analysis software such as GOM, Zeiss Inspect, POLYWORKS or GEOMAGIC
- Experience with non-contact dimensional inspection equipment and programming such as Nikon I-NEXIV, Alicona, 4D InSpec, Keyance.
- Strong statistical and analytical skills. Understand Design of Experiments, SPC, and Gage R&R.
- Experience in manufacturing or quality in the aerospace industry.
- Knowledge of aerospace industry quality standards and procedures.
- Travel Requirements: up to 25.
- Certification in metrology and quality engineering (e.g., AUKOM, ASQ CQE).
- Familiarity with VDI/VDE 2634-2 and/or ISO 10360-13.
- Experience with statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, SPC) for measurement data interpretation.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
