Job Title: Aircraft Avionics Technician
Job Description
Join a specialized field deployment team as an Aircraft Avionics Technician, responsible for installing, modifying, and repairing avionics equipment on AH-64 aircraft. This role involves extended deployments followed by work at facilities in the Huntsville/Meridianville, AL area, supporting critical aircraft modification and maintenance activities in a hangar environment.
Responsibilities
- Install avionics equipment and systems on AH-64 aircraft in accordance with technical data, engineering instructions, and applicable standards.
- Perform avionics modifications on aircraft, including integration of new systems, components, and wiring changes.
- Carry out repair and troubleshooting of aircraft avionics systems to ensure proper functionality and reliability.
- Install, route, and secure electrical wiring and wire harnesses in aircraft structures and avionics bays.
- Support aircraft modification projects from preparation through completion, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to schedule.
- Collaborate with the field deployment team during 6–8 month deployments to perform avionics installation and modification tasks at designated locations.
- Work safely in an aircraft hangar environment, following all safety procedures and using appropriate tools, test equipment, and protective gear.
- Document work performed, including installations, modifications, and repairs, in maintenance records and required forms.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and team members to resolve technical issues and clarify installation or modification requirements.
- Work extended hours, including up to 60 hours per week as required to meet project and deployment demands.
Essential Skills
- At least 4 years of hands-on avionics experience.
- Proven experience with avionics installation and modification on aircraft.
- Ability to perform avionics repair, including troubleshooting and correcting system issues.
- Experience working with aircraft electrical systems and wire harness installation.
- Ability to support extended field deployments of approximately 6–8 months at designated locations.
- Capability to obtain a Secret Clearance; candidates who already hold a Secret Clearance are strongly preferred.
- Ability and willingness to work up to 60 hours per week as required.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to technical data, drawings, and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a field deployment team in a hangar environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Helicopter avionics experience is preferred but not required.
- Prior experience working on AH-64 or similar military aircraft is beneficial.
- Previous experience supporting aircraft modification programs in a hangar or field environment is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate tasks and resolve technical issues with team members and leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing project needs and deployment schedules.

Work Environment
Work primarily takes place in an aircraft hangar setting, both during deployments and at facilities in the Huntsville/Meridianville, AL area. The role supports a field deployment team with assignments typically lasting 6–8 months at designated locations, followed by periods working back in Alabama. The schedule requires up to 60 hours per week, reflecting the operational demands of aircraft modification and maintenance programs. You will work around AH-64 aircraft and related support equipment, using standard avionics and electrical tools in a structured, safety-focused environment. Attire is consistent with an aircraft hangar setting and safety requirements, including appropriate work clothing and personal protective equipment as needed.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $34.00 - $39.00/hr.
