JOB OVERVIEW
The Safety Management System (SMS) Investigator/Analyst must investigate, analyze and identify the root cause or probable cause of all hazards, incidents or accidents reported or identified, create accurate factual chronological investigation reports as well as maintain the data entry and reporting system to ensure the timely collection of information. The SMS Investigator/Analyst must be respective of and have empathy for all those involved in each incident/accident and provide recommendations to improve safety and prevent recurrences.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review incoming daily Occurrence reports in the SMS database, gather additional information in support of such report and provide analysis
- Perform investigation of near-misses, incidents, and accidents
- Identify potential hazards and carry out risk analyses
- Work collaboratively with all departments, personnel, levels of management and Event Owners to provide investigation results, reports, and corrective/preventative actions
- Ensure timely and appropriate follow up on the outcomes of all SMS investigations
- Develop and present recommendations to reduce the likelihood of a recurrence for approval
- Participate in the monitoring, tracking and analysis of data for effectiveness and trending
- Maintain Hazard Registry Database and other SMS related classification lists
- Maintain the SMS Awareness bulletin board postings
- Must maintain confidentiality and integrity of the SMS program.
- Participate in safety meetings, preparing notes and agendas
The SMS group is part of the Quality Assurance Department and based on the workload, the SMS Coordinator may be assigned additional Quality Assurance duties and responsibilities, or other related duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum five years experience in Aircraft Maintenance Production environment
- Some experience with SMS is an asset
- Being a licensed AME would be an asset
- Demonstrated planning, time management and organizing ability
- Root cause analysis education or commitment to obtain
- Computer familiarity and experience with MS Office (Word, Adobe and Excel)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-starter and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Willing to travel domestically and represent KF Aerospace
- Skilled at conflict resolution, problem solving and accepting constructive feedback
- Capable of presenting, facilitating, or teaching individuals or groups

The successful incumbent would be based in our Hamilton, Ontario office.
This role is 100 on-site; it is not hybrid or remote.
SALARY
The wage band is level 10, $78,500-$98,000. The expertise and technical skill level of the candidate is assessed during the selection process for placement within the band. Note: The salary range maximum signifies full job knowledge.
