In collaboration with the Training Manager and Fleet Management, they will plan manpower requirements and schedule training and checking events, ensuring the necessary resources are available.
Additionally, the incumbent will ensure that all Temporary Supervisors involved in training and checking maintain their qualifications as Instructors or Evaluators. On behalf of the Vice President of Flight Operations, this role will promote and support safe and efficient flight operations at Air Canada.Key Responsibilities:
Scheduling and Planning:Award Check Pilot (CP) and Flight Instructor (FI) vacation and manage allocations throughout the year.Assign CP events in consideration of scheduled vacation and days off requests.Develop and maintain long-term and short-term forecasts for training/checking events, including manpower and resource requirements.Advise the Chief Pilot on current and future CP requirements.Advise the MPQ on current and future Evaluator capabilities for simulator resource planning.
Collaboration:Collaborate with the Chief Pilot, Manager of Pilot Qualifications (MPQ), and fleet Training Manager on all training and checking concerns.Provide support to IOE and Sim Planners to develop resilient and efficient training plans.Liaise with Crew Records and AQP to ensure accurate and complete qualification documentation.Liaise with Crew Scheduling to coordinate all fleet training and checking activities.Collaborate with Training Specialists on recency requirements to ensure pilots maintain their qualifications.
Training Management:Develop and maintain CP monthly schedules, managing changes as required.Coordinate appropriate pairings to efficiently cover Online Evaluation (OE) requirements.Identify opportunities to shorten training footprints through scheduling efficiencies.Manage flight time for Initial Online Evaluations (IOE) to minimize overruns.Monitor the training status of Pilots-in-training and provide weekly updates to stakeholders for any delays.Balance manpower requirements on a three-month timescale by moving up OEs in compliance with contractual guidelines.Assign Qualifying Course (QC) candidates to Qualifying Line Operational Evaluation (QLOE) and IOE schedules, tracking their progress.Identify opportunities to utilize Evaluators in support of IOE requirements, where applicable.
Compliance and Monitoring:Ensure compliance with Canadian Aviation Regulations and the ALPA collective bargaining agreement in all training activities.Analyze, validate, and compile month-end pilot pay summaries.Ensure Netline is accurately updated with training events and reconciled with block month credits.Manage type qualifications for all Evaluators and plan qualification events as required.Report weekly on consolidation qualifications for pilots training to the fleet and address consolidation issues.Coordinate pilot return-to-work requalification in collaboration with the fleet Training Manager.Identify expiring events and request Transport Canada extensions as required.Monitor Netline daily for potential violations and take preventative measures to mitigate operational disruptions.Manage pay premium allocations to drive cost-efficiencies.
Support and Flexibility:Provide vacation coverage for other Fleet Efficiency Analysts, ensuring standardized processes across all fleet types.Provide after-hours support as necessary and demonstrate flexibility to work extended hours and weekends when required.
Additional Responsibilities:Manage Temporary Supervisor START-STOP process for each fleet.Collaborate with Crew Records to correct discrepancies in pilot training records to maintain reporting integrity.Liaise with Crew Scheduling Support to coordinate Preselect process for Temporary Supervisors.Maintain a Monthly checklist for PBSAudit and coordinate ETOPS and First Aid qualifications, as required.
QualificationsCollege Diploma, University Degree, or equivalent required3-5 years of experience in operational or planning rolesComprehensive knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations Section 700 and the ALPA collective bargaining agreement.Proficiency in MS Excel required. Familiarity with Netline, ReportLink, PQRM, FACTS an asset.Strong organizational and planning skills.Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to various stakeholders including colleagues, leadership and external regulatory bodies.Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing demands.Detail and deadline oriented. High degree of accuracy and ability to work under pressure.Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.Uses professional knowledge and business concepts to develop sophisticated approaches to resolving critical technical and/or business problems.Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
