Role Introduction
Reports to: Financial Reporting Manager
The Accountant will play a pivotal role in the Cathay Group Financial Reporting Team in the provision of summary & detailed financial analysis. He/ she will be contributing to month-end and year-end closing, consolidated schedules preparation, general ledger reconciliation and monitoring, financial reporting and statutory audit.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing tasks in SAP and BPC systems
- Consolidate and produce monthly consolidated financial schedules and management reports with proper consolidated adjustments
- Support in the planning, coordination and production of interim and annual group financial statements, accounting schedules and related external reporting deliverables, and addressing queries from external and internal auditors
- Liaison with and support other accounting teams and subsidiaries in aligning information for consistent on accounting treatments
- Handle monthly intercompany reconciliations and variance investigations
- Handle full sets of statutory accounts for investment holding subsidiariesfor management and external auditors’ review
- Coordinate automation projects, initiate system and operation improvements
- Provide advice on SAP/month closing enquires
- Perform ad hoc assignments as and when required
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting/ Finance or related discipline with a professional designation in Accountancy
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting or management reporting
- Audit experience with recognised audit firms a definite plus
- Strong analytical mind and interpersonal skills
- Able to work under process and being flexible when necessary to meet deadlines
- Excellent Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills are essential while knowledge of BPC/ SAP is a plus
- Team player with good problem solving and interpersonal skills
- Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese
- Willing to challenge the status quo and improve work processes
